There was the "Year Without a Santa Claus." but could you image a Thanksgiving without BACON. No I didn't say turkey; I said BACON.
Come on fess up I know your secret, roasting turkey is just an excuse to make stuffing and our favorite stuffing is Bread Stuffing with Bacon, Apples and Caramelized Onions.
Well, the folks at Applegate assured me I would be getting my sample of their new Good Morning Bacon which is made from the shoulder of the hog. It’s equally porky, but with 60% less fat than regular bacon.
I love Applegate's products because they are antibiotic free and humanely raise... plus they taste incredible. My supermarket hadn't gotten their shipment of Applegate's new Good Morning Bacon yet and I really wanted to use it in our stuffing. The problem was a snowstorm was hitting my area of New York. Yup, it was the day before Thanksgiving and I didn't want to chance driving in bad weather to go buy bacon.
Well, Applegate came through. The package arrived late Wednesday afternoon. My UPS person said it was her last delivery and she was going home. The roads were getting bad.
Thanksgiving turned out to be a beautiful day. All my relatives were dug out of the snow before dinner time and the stuffing was the hit of the meal thanks to Applegate's Good Morning Bacon. We even got a little cross country skiing in... to burn off the meal.
We had some bacon left over and ate it solo. It really does cook up with less fat and the flavor is fantastic.
I highly recommend you take the fun:
